Daily requirement of vitamin K


The need for vitamin K, i.e, the amount required to prevent deficiency in normal conditions is about 1 microgram per kilogram body weight per day. Weighing 60 kg man needs 60 mg of vitamin K per day. A typical diet contains from 300 to 500 micrograms of vitamin K per day. Vitamin A deficiency - something rare, except when food is limited or where rapid interactions with drugs affecting the absorption of vitamin. Even without food sources normally functioning gut bacteria population can produce enough vitamin K.

The need for vitamin K in infants is in the early days of 12.10 mg.Modern mixtures containing about 4 mg of vitamin K per 100 calories, which under normal circumstances would be sufficient to meet the needs of the body.
